This week has seen the first of a number of functions organised by the Van 2017 team. The gathering held at the Holiday Inn was well attended with notable government dignitaries all of whom spoke of the importance of The Vanuatu Pacific Games as well as reassuring the organisers and sponsors of their commitment to the Project.
Major investors in addition to the government are currently Digicel, Azur Water, Holiday Inn, Hertz, FR8/DHL Logistics, ODC Ltd, Pacific Energy and Air Vanuatu. The CEO of the Games Mr. Clint Flood reiterated how important the sponsors are and the impact that, they can have on the community as a whole.
Cyrille Mainguy as MC, was directing the evening which went very well and kept to schedule. A rousing introduction was given by Mark Stafford in his capacity as Chairman of the Games in which he warned that, with just over 300 days to the grand opening the pressure was mounting.
The refurbishment of the sports stadium in Korman is well underway, with CCECC being the main contractor and the funds being provided by the Peoples Republic of China.
